Verizon FiOS coming in 2010!

The Lower East Side wanted it... Brooklyn wanted it... the data-clogged East Village practically got down its collective knees and begged for it! But  for them? No dice, all around. Too expensive, too impossible, to rip up the streets and rewire everything. So you know who IS getting Verizon's vaunted super-high-speed FiOS service, as early as this fall? Those excellent and oh-so-worthy residents of Waterside Plaza!

Verizon's tech-teams have already started the process of installing the fiber-optic lines in all Waterside Plaza buildings (note: that's what those noisy workers are doing in the stairwells). When they're done, sometime in the fall or early winter of this year, Waterside residents will have access to faster, more reliable, less expensive internet/TV/telephone bundles of service than just about anyone else in New York City.

There will be more details down the road, and plenty of progress reports, but if you want to know more now--including a look at all of the service's coolest features--please see the Verizon FiOS website, here
