Reminder: Waterside's main staircase renovation starts next week

On Monday, June 28, if all goes according to schedule, Waterside Plaza will begin its much-needed renovation of the main stairway, Phase One of our ambitious project that will not only provide a dramatic, reconfigured entrance to our home, but also, in Phase Two, will offer Waterside residents elevator service from the street to the Plaza.

The immediate consequence of the renovation: the stairway will be closed for the duration of Phase One. As with any big project, especially those involving external vendors, it's difficult to predict exactly when Phase One will be finished, but the plan is for the new entrance to completely done by Labor Day weekend. In the meantime, the escalator will be running (going down from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.; going up at all other times), and the stairs near the 40 Building will be open until 10:00 p.m. each day, and the ramp is always an option as well.

The long-term result of the project: a lovely new entrance, an elevator from street to plaza (work on Phase Two is scheduled to begin in Spring 2011), a good life in a good home.
