Playformers take it on the road, this Wednesday, December 16 at 7:00!

Waterside Plaza's own Playformers go on the road in December for their monthly, always lively group reading... all the way down to the Lower East Side, and the warm, convivial Lolita Bar! If you've never been to a Playformers production, you're in for a treat. This not-for-profit organization, founded in the late 1980s by then-Waterside resident Romola Robb Allrud, Playformers is dedicated to encouraging and promoting new works for the stage. To that end, these playwrights and their fellow theater-lovers meet once a month--the season runs from now through June--for an energetic reading of several works in progress. This month, on Wednesday, December 16, at 7:00, the Playformers are venturing slightly afield from their usual Waterside Plaza setting, down to the terrific performance space at the Lolita Bar, on Allen Street, between Delancey and Broome.

The low-key, friendly Lolita Bar always has interesting things going on in their downstairs venue, and the Playformers show is no exception, as the evening's entertainment will feature professional actors reading from works by Colleen Cosgrove (above), Tevia Abrams (below), and Lynda Crawford (not pictured... but you can see her live on Wednesday!). Admission to the performance is free; plenty of reasonably-priced beverages are on sale, of course, at the bar.
