If you've been to a Loser's Lounge show before, all you really need to know is this: Joe McGinty and crew are tackling Simon and Garfunkel, this weekend, Joe's Pub, tickets still available.
Never heard of them? Here's a little background: for more than 15 years, a loose collective of singers and musicians have gotten together every few months or so and, led by the charismatic McGinty, they rock the house (which used to be the Fez, and now is Joe's Pub) with a set of covers focusing on a single, usually nostalgic, always crowd-pleasing band. We've seen The Loser's Lounge do Fleetwood Mac, which was lots of fun, and Queen, which was even better, and we've missed plenty of shows along the way that sounded like a blast, including the Losers doing the Talking Heads, Neil Young, The Smiths vs. The Cure, James Bond theme songs, Elton John, Prince, on and on.

Starting tomorrow, Thursday, April 15, the Loser's Lounge returns to Joe's Pub to pay glorious musical tribute to Simon and Garfunkel, performing five times through Saturday night, and undoubtedly tearing through tunes such as Hazy Shade of Winter, Bridge Over Troubled Water, America, The Only Living Boy in New York, The Boxer, Mrs. Robinson, Homeward Bound... you get the idea. If experience is any guide, the talent on stage will probably vary pretty wildly--each song gets a different singer, and sometimes it feels a bit like Live Karaoke night, except you're not invited to participate--but the enthusiasm will definitely be there. We have our tickets secured, and last time we checked seats were still available for most of the shows.

The Loser's Lounge do Simon and Garfunkel will be performed at Joe's Pub on April 15 at 7:00; on Friday, April 16 at 7:00 and 9:30; and on Saturday night, April 17, also at 7:00 and 9:30. All seats are general admission, but you're guaranteed a table f you make a dinner reservation. There is standing room and stools at the bar in the back. Joe's Pub is part of the Public Theater complex, located on Lafayette Street between Astor Place and East 4th Street. For more info and to buy tickets online, please see the Joe's Pub website, here.
